PJ Wren
by author Lucretia Schanfarber

From the moment you step into Muscle Memory, PJ Wren's award-winning personal fitness studio in Delta, BC, you can sense the dynamic flow of energy.

It's the feeling of being surrounded by people dedicated to making a difference. And making a lasting difference in a person's life is what PJ and her team of certified fitness trainers are all about.

Muscle Memory encourages and empowers people at every fitness level-from timid fitness newcomers to elite athletes.

Fit Pixie
With a charming smile and pixie good looks, PJ is a real-life poster girl for ageless fitness and vitality. Her youthful appearance belies her years of hands-on experience as a successful businesswoman who has literally helped to transform the lives of thousands of people.

It all began more than 12 years ago. PJ started simply; no fanfare, no grand opening. "It was 1994. I had one client, one stability ball, and one clear vision," PJ recalls nostalgically.

With hard work, dedication, enthusiasm, and the guiding light of her clear vision, PJ turned her one client into many and her one stability ball into an entire fitness facility staffed by a select team of fitness professionals.

Awarded as Entrepreneur of the Year (2003) by the Delta Chamber of Commerce, PJ is also a published writer, with a fitness column in the Delta Optimist and frequent contributions on health and fitness to several other community newspapers (as well as several articles in alive).

Personalized Fitness Programs

PJ and her qualified staff exude the kind of empathy and compassion every not-so-fit person hopes to find when they finally muster the courage to walk into a fitness facility.

"Our clients come in all shapes and sizes, all fitness levels. They all have their own stories. We respect each person as an individual with unique challenges, and we work to design a fitness program that will serve them best," explains PJ.

PJ understands how challenging it can be to believe in yourself, to believe that you have the power to change the shape you are in.

"Sometimes the first steps are the hardest ones to take. We help people believe in themselves," says PJ. "That's the first step."

Believing you can succeed comes naturally at Muscle Memory.

Boasting top-of-the-line fitness equipment and a professional team of qualified instructors, it's easy to see why this facility has been awarded the Delta Optimist's Reader's Choice Award for Best Personal Fitness for five years in a row.

PJ Wren is very knowledgeable about what it takes to get fit and stay fit. One of the things she knows is that our muscles have a kind of cellular memory that enables them to be trained to completely reshape and strengthen our bodies.

"I firmly believe that people can go from fat to fit, from fatigued to energized. We've helped it happen thousands of times. Muscle does have memory and we are helping people remember that," beams PJ.

PJ is coaching Toni Hadgraft in the fitness category of the alive Life Makeover series ( to read more, click here ). Go to musclememory.ca to learn more about how you, too, can get fit.
